When CCMT opens the curtains for the first time in over two years, audiences will be treated to the theatre company’s production of the wonderfully quirky show, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee!” Six spellers enter; one speller leaves! Pretty simple, right? Not in this show…If you are not familiar with “Spelling Bee,” you’ve come to the right place. Did you know…
The show centers on 6 eccentric mid-pubescents who are all vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime.
While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake.
Emotions are all over the place in this musical – some songs and scenes will make you cry and some will make you laugh out loud.
During the show, four real audience members are invited on stage to compete in the spelling bee alongside the six young characters. All spellers and actors are welcome to come play!
